The financial resources for the Metro Foundation scholarships comes directly from donations, the sale of Metro gear and from the annual Family Banquet. These funds will be used in TWO ways (see below).
1) Metro Lacrosse Foundation College Scholarships:
The purpose of these $500.00 scholarships is to recognize senior players who embody the principles of our program. Metro Lacrosse: "It isn't just lacrosse".
The 2008 Metro Foundation Scholarship recipients were named at the banquet on Sunday, 12/2/07. The Foundation's purpose is to recognize senior players who embody the principles of our program; Metro Lacrosse "It isn't just lacrosse"
Scholarship criteria:
Commitment: She is committed not only to her self-improvement, but to the program and the sport of lacrosse. She communicates with teammates and coaches, and takes full advantage of the opportunities afforded her.
Participation: Is the sign of commitment. She makes every effort to have good attendance at practices and tournaments. At Metro events, she is engaged and working hard to constantly improve her performance and that of her teammates.
Leadership: Her actions on the field and off are an example for younger players. She goes beyond what is expected to make herself and the program better. She is supportive and appreciative of teammate's efforts.
2) Current Magic Player Scholarships:
We have set up a player scholarship fund for "Magic" membership. This award will be given based on family need. It is geared towards identifying players in our area who possess talent and potential, but do not have the financial resources to join our program. We awarded this scholarship for the first time this year and the recipient's family has been notified.

For this program to continue to serve young women, we will need help from you, the Metro Magic families. There are two ways you can get involved:
1. Help us to reach out to these players. Look around your neighborhoods and schools for those special young girls who would most benefit from involvement in a program such as this. Next year, we will have forms available for them to apply for this scholarship through a review committee.
2. The second way to help is financial. The fund will need to continue to grow to be available each year. If you are interested in donating specifically to this scholarship, please email Frank Speno: frankspeno@comcast.net.
This year's recipients are:
